KV "Barentshav" On the 22nd of August 2009 the christening of the new coastguard vessel took place in Fosnavåg. The godmother was the former Finance Minister, Kristin Halvorsen.
The vessel is chartered to the Norwegian Coastguard, by the owners Remøy Management. The ship is a hybrid, and when running only on gas it reduces its NOX effluent by 90 percent and its CO2 effluent by 25 percent.
This environmental friendly vessel is well equipped for oil spill preparedness; it can store up to 1000 tonnes of oil and has a bollard pull up to 100 tonnes.
